Classes
Our group classes start
out with Puppy Kindergarten. Puppy Kindergarten is a must
to start your puppy out on the right paw! This is the most
important socialization period and we are here to help!
It’s great for socialization and positive learning! To
enroll, puppies must be no older than 5 month. This class
runs for 4 weeks and is offered on a monthly basis.
The next class offered
would be Basic Manners. This class would be a prerequisite
to all other classes or specialty teaching (except puppy
class). We work with sit, down, come and loose leash
walking to include the heel position. Dogs must be at least
5 month old to enroll. This class would run for 7 weeks and
is offered year around.
Advanced Manners
includes off-leash work. We use a long lead to manage our
dogs and work on all cues taught in basic class with an
emphasis on distractions, duration and distance. There is
no age limit as long as your dog does well in basic
manners. This class runs for 7 weeks. If the participants
of this class are interested, CGC (AKC Canine Good Citizen)
certification is offered.
Private classes are also offered for those
that wish to have one-on-one teaching. These classes are
structured for the particular needs of both the handler and
the dog. They can be done either on-site, or at your home.
If you are experiencing behavior problems in your home, the
best place to work them through is in your home. Any travel
to you home requires mileage fees of the current IRS mileage
rate. Distance traveled would be within 50 miles of Ottawa,
IL for private sessions.
In order to enroll in
classes, puppies must have proof of having had two puppy
vaccines or titer paperwork. All dogs must have a current
vaccination or titer record to include DHLLP and rabies
vaccine. All dogs must have the rabies vaccination
according to state law.
Our classes are small to
give more one-on-one attention and they are filled on a
first come, first serve basis. You will be mailed an
enrollment/behavior history form that must be mailed back
with a $50 deposit in order to be placed on the class
roster. We also require that you send a copy of your dog’s
current vaccination/titer record.
Any type of dog-dog
aggression or dog-people aggression must be dealt with on a
private basis. We reserve the right to ask owners to remove
their dogs due to any type of aggressive display. We would
then reapply the fee towards private teaching.
