Classes

Unleashed Potential Canine Teaching & Behavior offers a variety of training classes throughout the year for pups and adult dogs alike including everything from Puppy Kindergarten through Advanced Manners and Specialty Classes. Our group classes are small providing more one-on-one attention to you and your dog.

PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
Puppy Kindergarten is a must to start your puppy out on the right paw! This is the most important socialization period and we are here to help. This class provides an excellent venue for socialization and positive learning. To enroll, puppies must be no older than 5 months. Basic Puppy Kindergarten runs for 4 weeks but for you overachievers we offer an additional 2 weeks to give you the opportunity to test for the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program.

BASIC MANNERS
Basic Manners is a prerequisite to all other classes or specialty teaching (with the exception of Puppy Kindergarten). We work on sit, down, come, stay and loose leach walking to include the heel position. Dogs must be 5 months old to enroll.

INTERMEDIATE MANNERS
Intermediate Manners takes Basic Manners a step further. We work with more distractions, distance and duration to better reinforce the behaviors we already learned. This class also prepares you and your dog for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Certificate that tests on a variety of points including “Walking through a crowd”, “Reaction to another dog”, and “Accepting a friendly stranger”.

ADVANCED MANNERS
Advanced Manners includes the beginning of off-leash work. We apply a long line to manage your dog during training and work all cues taught in the Basic and Intermediate Manners classes. By this time, you and your dog have a highly developed sense of all the cues learned previously and are well on your way to implementing the team work necessary to work off leash.

PRIVATE CLASSES
Private classes are offered for those wishing to have one-on-one teaching. Theses classes are structured for the particular needs of both the handler and the dog. Privates are conducted on-site at our Ottawa or in your home. If you are experiencing behavior problems in your home, we will begin with a Behavior Consultation in your home. Travel compensation applies to in home training and consultations.

Any type of dog-dog aggression or dog-people aggression must be dealt with on a private basis. We reserve the right to ask owners to remove their dogs due to any type of aggressive display. We would reapply the fee toward Private Classes.

Our group classes are small and are filled on a first come, first served basis. You can fill out our on-line Enrollment Form and send it in via email or snail mail with your deposit. We require a copy of your dog’s current vaccination/titer record with your enrollment form.
